Acerca del libro
This book traces its subject, Movenglish, from the movement language’s earliest formulations to its most recent experimental applications. Through a series of sample movement definitions, transcribed conversations, and research/performance archives, readers will gain insights into the nature of Movenglish “translations”––specific kinds of embodiments of pieces of language written or spoken in English. Constructed languages, sign languages, and many dance works and writings about dance have fueled this research into certain intersections between movement and text, and I hope that readers will come away from these pages with a renewed sense of what dance can do above and beyond its more traditional applications.
